An old identity passed away on Friday, 28th March, at his residence, 'Scarcliffe,' 93 South street, Ascot Vale, in the person of Mr. James Brough, a resident of the district of some thirty years' standing. The deceased was of a very kindly disposition, and will be much missed by the public, with whom he was very popular. He leavers a widow and grown-up family, and at the time of his death was 67 years of age. The late Mr. Brough was a splendid rifle shot. He started the Essendon and Flemington Rifle Club; was one of the founders of the Commonwealth Ladies' Rifle Club, and had been shooting up till the last two years. The remains of the deceased gentleman were interred in the Melbourne General Cemetery.8
