  • 21 Feb 1896: IRVING—BECHER.—The wedding of Miss Blanche Becher, second daughter of the late Canon Becher, incumbent of St. James' Church, Melbourne, and of Mrs. Becher, of Kensington-road, South Yarra, with Mr. Frank Irving, of the Melbourne Public Library, second son of Professor Irving, took place very quietly at St. James' Church, Melbourne, on Wednesday, February 12. The Reverend Dean Vance and Canon Handfield performed the ceremony. The church was tastefully decorated with white flowers, foliage and pampas grass, the work of the bride's friends. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. Charles Becher, and was attended by her three sisters—Miss Becher, Miss Helen Becher, and Miss Francie Becher, and her cousin, Miss Pitcairn.
Lieutenant Irving acted as best man to his brother. The bride was attired very simply in a gown of fine white muslin, trimmed with satin ribbons and chiffon frills; and wore a coronet of orange blossom.
The first two maids were in pale blue muslin costumes, with white chiffon fichus; and the other two in gowns of pink muslin trimmed in the same way with fichus. Their picture hats had black velvet rims, and blouse crowns of silk finished at the side with black plumes. After the ceremony a wedding tea was served at the residence of the bride's mother, at South Yarra. A large number of lovely presents were received. Frank Samuel Oswald Irving7

Blanche Maria Becher5
