  • 30 Sep 1857: IF a BULLOCK-DRAY, the property of August Schulz, left with the undersigned since October 1854, is not removed within fourteen days from this date, and all expenses paid, the same will be sold by public auction. Carl Aurisch.6
  • 12 Sep 1883: BERWICK POLICE COURT, Friday, 7th September). (Before Mr. A. P. Akehurst, P.M., and Dr Elmes, J.P.)
Gustave Aurisch v. Carl Aurisch sen. illegal detention of a plough, valued at £4.
It seemed that the son had lent the plough to his brother, who resides with his father, and then took the plough home. The defendant afterwards went to plaintiff's and took the plough again, claiming it as his property on account of work he had done for his son twelve years since.
Plaintif, however, produced a receipt to show that he had purchased the plough from a man named Green some four years since. The Bench made an order for the plough to be delivered up to plaintiff, but would not allow costs.
The Court then adjourned. Gustav Johann Carl Aurisch7
  • 10 Mar 1891: An action for the specific performance of a contract for sale was decided before Mr. Justice Webb in the Third Civil Court yesterday. Alfred Wm. Breeze claimed to have entered into a written contract to buy two sections of land, containing about two acres, at Berwick, from Charles Aurisch, on July 29, 1889, for which he was to pay £200.
Breeze deposited £150 cash, and gave a promissory note at 12 months for the remainder. The promissory note was provided for when due, but Aurisch refused to execute a transfer of the land, saying that he had only intended to sell one section, and that if two sections were mentioned in the contract for sale the second had been fraudulently included. He also stated that although the amount of the promissory note had been paid into the bank at Berwick he had not appropriated it to his own use, and he entered a counter claim to have the contract cancelled. The plaintiff asked that the defendant might be ordered to execute a transfer of the land, or in the alternative for £370 damages. Mr. Moule appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. MacDermott for the defendant. His Honour gave judgment for the specific performance of the contract, the defendant to execute a transfer of the property, the counter claim to be dismissed, and the defendant to pay the costs. Alfred William Breeze8
