To-day at Beaconsfield two old colonists, both of whom have passed the span of three score years and ten, will celebrate their diamond wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gibbons Weston were married on 17th March in 1874, and today a special gathering at Beaconsfield will enable their friends and relatives — they have thirty-four grandchildren and six great grandchildren — to wish them well on this anniversary of their wedding, and also to congratulate Mr. Weston on having to-day attained his eightieth birthday. Mr. Weston was born in London in 1854. As an infant he was brought to Hobart in 1856, and in 1871 he arrived in Victoria. Mrs. Weston, who before her marriage was Miss Mary Ann Welch, was born in Somerset in 1856, and arrived with her parents in Melbourne in 1858.
